Here’s a photo we took of the Swift River Valley on a gorgeous autumn day. Four picturesque New England towns were razed to create Quabbin Reservoir in the 1920s and 1930s. I grew up on the western edge of Quabbin. It’s truly a beautiful area, and the setting for SECRETS OF THE LOST SUMMER and now THAT NIGHT ON THISTLE LANE.

I grew up in Ware loved the two Swift River Valley books but would love to know what town or county you grew up in. My aunt had boarders in the 1930′s who were “woodpeckers” employed clearing he land for the Quabbin. My father’s cousin and her husband owned the Swift River Inn? Hotel? I have a copy of Don Howe’s book “Quabbin”.
